Turning a breakfast problem into an advantage

Vikram Aditya Singh

Folks happy to share an example of how to turn constraints into competitive advantage using a “Blue Ocean” thought process.

Breakfast was distinctly a substandard and scattered experience at The Claridges, New Delhi. There was a interior lobby with vacant shops and leftover furniture and unutilized spaces. We redid the Pastry Shop Ye Old Bakery and restored it to its best avatar yet ! And then planned and converted the inner lobby and gallery into one of the most pleasant and elaborate breakfast experiences, that would double up as a lunch and dinner venue as well as additional seating for private events !!!! So here in an airy atrium with live piano music playing the stage is set for a grand breakfast or an elaborate luncheon, stylish afternoon tea or extended supper / dinner.

The design was inspired by the 1950’s and Latika Nath absolutely outdid herself in bringing this concept to life !!!

Those who have been to that space before and go again will feel the difference!!!

The change has resulted in one of the better breakfast experiences for guests in the city !
